OUR APPROACH:

At Teens-Matter we use a three-tiered approach to help teens discover who they are, how to manage the basics of getting along in the world, and how to find their wings and fly.

1. The Foundation: WHO AM I?

Self-understanding is the key to a life of balance and meaning. Using a combination of logical and intuitive activities, teens explore and answer these questions:

what are my values?

what are my skills and talents?

in what ways am I "smart"?

what activities make me feel good?

what motivates me?

what are my weaknesses?

2. Ground Floor: HOW DO I GET ALONG IN THE WORLD?

In our experience with teens, the foundation of self-appreciation (above) causes a natural receptiveness to this next level—learning to:

listen openly and appreciate others

communicate 1-on-1 and in groups

say "no" to peer pressure

resist bullying

eschew substance

3. Rooftop: HOW DO I FLY?

In this step, self-appreciation and the basics of "being here" are integrated and teens learn how to:

set intentions

manage weaknesses

achieve goals

choose meaningful work

choose meaningful relationships
